What led you to Evolve502? My journey of growth was driven by my determination to find my own path in higher education and advocate for accessible, affordable education for others. As a first-generation student, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate the world of higher education without a roadmap. I was once in the same shoes as these students, facing uncertainties and obstacles that often felt overwhelming. However, because of organizations like Evolve, I was able to access the support, resources, and guidance that helped me succeed. I believe every student deserves the same equitable opportunities to reach their full potential, regardless of their background. That’s why I chose to work for Evolve—to give back, uplift others, and ensure that no student has to go through this journey alone. With guidance from mentors at UofL, I was introduced to this organization. I was truly inspired by the work Evolve was doing, and now, I’m proud to be part of it.

Your job is a new position at Evolve502. What are you most looking forward to as you begin your work? I’m excited to lay a strong foundation that supports students in their success. My goal is to establish meaningful partnerships, stay open-minded, and be a dedicated advocate for students.

What advice do you have for students who may be facing challenges during college, either with school or personal stressors? Offering specific advice can be challenging because everyone’s journey is different. However, one piece of advice that applies to all is the importance of building relationships and connections. Community is all around us, and there are always people willing to help—you just have to be intentional about how you engage with others. And remember, it’s okay to ask for help.

What’s is your number one tip for success in college? One tip that helped me in college was communication. I always made an effort to be open with my professors about what I was doing and why I approached things a certain way. This helped them understand me better and created a stronger support system.

What do you wish you had known in college that would have better prepared you for the college experience? What others think of you negatively does not matter. There’s a big difference between constructive criticism from those who want to see you succeed and negative comments from those who want to see you fail. Surround yourself with good people who uplift and inspire you.

What is one random/fun fact about you?

Also, a fun fact about me—I’m a musical theatre performer and tap dancer!
